Group Therapy Services

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Group

DBT was initially developed and researched for borderline personality disorder and substance use disorders, but has since been shown to be effective for PTSD, treatment resistant depression, self-harming behaviors, and ADHD.  The group teaches skill modules for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and, most importantly, mindfulness. The group will rotate the modules, alternating 2 weeks of mindfulness with 6-7 weeks of each skill set in rotation. Members are asked to commit to attending 8 weeks of group, and can recommit at the end of each 6 week cycle.

This is a hybrid group, on-line and in-person, facilitated by Lisa Ripperton.  All are welcome.

The group meets Thursdays, from 3:30 to 5 pm.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) Group

Coping With Trauma Related Dissociation originally followed the book by the same name written by Boon, Steele, and Van Der Hart, and was a psycho-educational group for learning skills to manage dissociative and trauma-related symptoms.  At present, we have completed two skills-related books and are exploring the use of art and creativity to express and meet internal needs.

This is a hybrid group, on-line and in-person, facilitated by Lisa Ripperton.  Please contact Lisa if you are interested in joining.

The group meets Tuesdays, from 3:30 to 5 pm.

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Group

This group is for people in recovery from any addictive disorder, but focuses primarily on substance use disorders.  The facilitator uses a combination of education, discussion, and shared experience to help people establish and maintain a sober lifestyle.  The group focuses on 12-step facilitation and emphasizes the development of a sober support network, as well as teaching skills from the Matrix Model and other recovery manuals.

This is an in-person group, facilitated by Tristan Killian.

This group meets on Monday and Thursday, from 7 to 9 pm, at Freedom Life Recovery on Logan Street.

Daytime meetings are being developed.
